Congregation Council Prepares for 2018

On Thursday, December 14, the Congregation Council met for their final meeting of 2017. The newly elected Council disciples were invited to sit in for the on-going business of the Council. The new Council disciples, elected at the Annual Meeting on November 19, are: Chip Baker, John Bandle, Colleen Crozier, Elly Burns Frye, David Levine, and Doug Nelson. Debbie Byorick was also elected on November 19, but unfortunately for health reasons, she decided that she must withdraw her name. At the meeting on December 14, the Council voted to ask Damien Richardson to fill Debbie’s vacant seat.  Damien had received the next highest number of votes at the congregational meeting on November 19.  We thank Damien for agreeing to serve.

After the business portion of the meeting, the new Council disciples joined the continuing Council disciples for the election of officers.  The following individuals were elected for a one-year term: Neil Linnell, President; Jeanne Brickhouse, Vice President; Doug Nelson, Treasurer; and Carol Thornton, Secretary.

Many thanks were extended to the outgoing Council disciples, with gratitude for their dedication and exemplary work over the past three-years. Art DeBaugh held the position of Vice-President for one year and President for two years. Kris Andrews was Treasurer for the past three years.  Beth Hickman served for four years, fulfilling a vacant spot for one year before being elected for a subsequent three year term, most recently on the Stewardship Ministry Team. Martha Foreman served two years on Christian Education and one year on Property. Susan Doran served on the Stewardship Ministry Team for three years. Pat Holland served for one year, completing a vacant term on Property.  Keith Kooken served for three years on the Evangelism Ministry Team.

A Council Retreat will be held on February 2-3. There will be Bible study on Friday evening, followed by fellowship. On Saturday, the focus will be on setting clear goals for the year ahead, which will help guide the cottage meetings being planned for early 2018.
