Ministries: Social
The goals of the Social Ministry Committee are to coordinate the involvement and participation of Augsburg members with activities and ministries of community outreach and to extend Christian compassion to those in need of aid in body or spirit.
Committee Leadership:

Local Community Ministry
- Encourage involvement in the Red Cross Blood drive, and in staffing nights at the Samaritan Inn
- Lead the drive for health and school kits for students locally and, through Lutheran World Relief, around the world
- Collect Christmas gifts from the congregation for local school children and for the children of prisoners.
The committee encourages food contributions to Crisis Control Ministry through the Loaves and Fishes Ministry. It also is looking for ways to continue to minister to older adults downtown.
Ministry to Augsburg Members:
Social Ministry also includes caring for our own members. * A large medical loan closet benefits dozens of families each year. * Meals for families who have lost a loved one are a vital congregational ministry.
The Stephen Ministry is part of the Social Ministry committee and is another way that members care for members.
