Ministries: Theater at Augsburg
Theater at Augsburg is a ministry providing evangelism, fellowship and training to the whole Augsburg community through the theater arts.
Ministry Objectives:
- Provide programs that are age-inclusive, age-appropriate and supportive of the mission of Augsburg Lutheran Church.
- Foster an appreciation of drama in all aspects of worship.
- Encourage members to explore and present a variety of programs, shows and theatrical productions.
- Enlist members experienced in theatre arts to share their skills with others.
The organization, headed by a five-person Steering Committee, was formed in 2002 to initiate theatrical programs at Augsburg and to serve as a resource body for any member who requests assistance with any theatrical production.
Theater at Augsburg's first production was "The Long Christmas Dinner" presented in September 2002 as part of the Church's "With Hearts and Hands and Voices" arts festival. In June 2003, "An Evening with Neil Simon" was produced in dinner theater format. Both shows were well attended and attracted many non-members, fulfilling our fellowship and evangelism goals.
