Youth Ministry

This group supports the youth of Augsburg through youth advisors, the pastors and members of the Youth Ministry Committee. The Youth Ministry Committee is responsible for the planning, staffing, and implementation of all ministries to and by the youth of the congregation generally from the sixth grade through college. The Committee strives to involve all youth of the congregation in the activities of the youth ministry program. At least one Pastor, as designated by the Congregation Council, serves as a member of the Committee and participates in the regular Committee meetings to provide liaison with the pastoral and program staff and to guide the Committee in matters related to the theology of the ELCA.

“Doing small things with GREAT LOVE”is this year's theme for our Youth Ministry.

Normal Meeting Date: 1st Sunday of each month unless noted differently

Our Jr High and Sr High youth meet each Sunday evening during the school year from 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm for fellowship, worship and other group activities.

Every 3 years, our Sr High youth participate in the ELCA National Gathering sharing the Word and fellowship with more than 40,000 Lutheran youth. Our mission theme for 2007 to 2009 will be “doing small things with GREAT LOVE” which is a message delivered during the 2006 San Antonio ELCA National Gathering.

Our youth participate in various activities and missions including support of the Lutheran Home, LYO Leadership Pathways, Big Brothers and Sisters, Samaritan Inn and Habit for Humanity. Annual fellowship events include the Fall Retreat, Annual Ski Trip, Kure Beach, and Youth Sunday. Currently a foreign mission trip is being investigated in which our youth can participate and share their gifts with others less fortunate.
